Called America’s first major inland city and America’s original Boomtown, Cincinnati was established along the Ohio River. In the early 19th century, people arrived on paddle wheelers after the War of 1812 and decided to make this place their home. America’s first Boomtown may soon become its next. Its urban areas are being revitalized. New, forward-thinking transportation policies are being instituted. Massive projects like The Banks, Queen City Square and the Central Riverfront Park are redefining the cityscape. Yet despite its impressive potential, followers of Jesus Christ are praying that Cincinnati will also experience a gospel boom. Just 13.7 percent of the 2 million residents in the metro area are affiliated with an evangelical church, and more than half of the city’s residents do not affiliate with a religion of any kind. Join the North American Mission Board’s GENSEND Summer Team and serve in Cincinnati where you will learn to live life on mission with a team of students as you explore your calling and serve alongside church planters and missionaries in the Greater Cincinnati area. In this immersive exploration, you will learn mission principles and discover what it means to live intentionally in community while sharing the Gospel.

New York City, NY :: Multiply Intern :: May 30- August 1
TOTAL ESTIMATED COST: $3467 (includes field costs, travel, and travel insurance)
WHAT YOU PAY (includes OMS Contribution): $2250
The Metro New York Baptist Association’s purpose is to help Equip Local Churches for Global Impact in NYC and beyond. For years a huge part of us accomplishing that goal has been our Multiply Program. Multiply’s heart is to connect student missionaries to local churches in the city to see the students grow in their walk with the Lord through community and discipleship. We want to encourage students to learn to listen for God’s plan for their life and equip them to live that out, focused on living missionally regardless of what God calls them to after graduation. Our local churches will spend their summer including the student missionaries in their ministries, introducing them to urban missions and allowing missionaries to be a part of their outreaches, services, etc., while also discipling the students weekly in their walk. We have seen God grow students in incredible ways through this program, and we believe that it teaches and challenges them to go home and live missionally on their campus and in their daily lives.
New York City is a mega-city, home to over 8 million people that represent every nation around the globe. That obviously makes NYC a challenging mission field, but our desire is to see New York as the early church saw the Near-East, and focus on growing leaders by neighborhood, and building collaboration within our churches throughout the city. In a city as transient, post-Christian, and challenging as New York, we believe that this is the only way to truly impact the lives of every person here!
Special requirements: Students that serve on this project will be assigned to a local church to serve using their gifts and passions whether that’s sports/art, children, internationals, etc.
New York City, NY :: Reach West Africans in NYC :: June 1-July 31
TOTAL ESTIMATED COST: $4383 (includes field costs, travel, and travel insurance)
WHAT YOU PAY (includes OMS Contribution): $3000
Over 100,000 West African Muslims live throughout the five boroughs of New York City and many have never personally met a Christian or even had the complete Bible in their own language. The main project is to search out and discover the boundaries in their communities and find people of peace, people who desire to hear the gospel. We need more laborers to work alongside us as we figure out where West Africans are being sent across the five boroughs. Activities include: teaching English classes; working with asylum seekers; prayer walks; visiting mosques; shops and homes; homeless ministry; and developing lasting relationships to lead into Bible studies.
The main locations will include Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn and parts of Queens. The number of West African Muslims has grown substantially since 2023 due to thousands of immigrants coming into the city. Some come here just to get a job and send money back home to help support their families. Others come with their families to find more opportunities for wealth and education. Each of those coming are seen as providers for their communities back in West Africa and are a gateway into a community that has not heard the Gospel.
Special requirements: Students that serve on this project need to know that you will be serving among unreached and unengaged peoples from West Africa. This will be a pioneer work. You must be bold and a self-starter.

Salt Lake City :: GenSend Salt Lake City:: May 27 – July 21
TOTAL ESTIMATED COST: $2568 (includes housing, most meals, transportation, and travel insurance)
WHAT YOU PAY (includes OMS Contribution): $1800
The current marketing campaign for Salt Lake City, Utah, is “different by nature.” A play on the natural beauty of world-class ski slopes and national parks, it also speaks to the city’s past and present. Founded in 1847 by Brigham Young, a leader in the Latter-day Saints movement, Salt Lake City is the world headquarters for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In recent years, it has also become a major metropolitan area and home to a growing population with a diverse range of beliefs.
“Though it is hard for many people to believe there is a place in the United States that is, basically, unreached, Salt Lake City fits that description,” said Salt Lake Send City missionary Travis Kerns. “Although The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints controls much of the region, God has continually worked throughout the history of redemption through a small remnant.”
Salt Lake has only one Southern Baptist church to every 40,460 people. And the number of evangelical Christians in the metro area is estimated to be 2.2 percent. Join the North American Mission Board’s GENSEND Summer Team and serve in Salt Lake City where you will learn to live life on mission with a team of students as you explore your calling and serve alongside church planters and missionaries in the Greater Phoenix area. In this immersive exploration, you will learn mission principles and discover what it means to live intentionally in community while sharing the Gospel.
