The strongest power of the gospel is the Kinship of Jesus’ love beyond every barrier between humans. Students will experience multi-cultural missions in Korea and Cambodia. They will teach English to children and teenagers in Korea for the first month and then move to Cambodia with their Korean teammates where they will be involved in various ministries such as: teaching English and Korean, worship dances, playing musical instruments & one on one evangelism. It would be helpful if the students have training/experience teaching English. Team members must commit to the entire program from orientation through debrief. Your first stop will be a joint orientation with other Nehemiah Teams. Learning the skills needed to carry out your assignment as well as team-building will fill these first few days. Your team will then fly to Korea for your first month of ministry with your Korean teammates. After the first month of ministry you will travel to Cambodia for your next month of ministry where you will be supervised by Korean missionaries. Following your ministry time in Cambodia, you will return to the US for a joint Nehemiah Teams debrief…sharing all God has done over the summer.

After twenty years of mismanagement and extreme corruption, the South American nation Venezuela is imploding at a rapid rate, with hyperinflation set to hit ten million percent this year. A professional salary for one month will not buy even one carton of eggs. Food, medicines, and car parts are only a few of the many items that are either too costly or are no longer to be had. Venezuela also has one of the world’s highest homicide rates. Venezuelans are fleeing their country by the millions (4,3 million, with more coming daily). Those without funds come by foot across the Colombian Andes in search of a better life. They come without belongings, without money, and without preparation for cold mountains and life on the streets. This is a unique historical moment, an opportunity to share Christ at a time when Venezuelans are extremely open to spiritual input. Your ministry will be directly with these Venezuelan “caminantes”, as well as with displaced Colombians. You will live in the pleasant city of Bucaramanga, a scant number of blocks from First Baptist Church, where you will work with the Toque de Vida foundation, a ministry to this people group. The founders and directors, a young brother and sister whose hearts God moved as they saw the suffering of the Venezuelans, live on-site and will be at the foundation with you. Your daily job will include arriving at the church to set up for the morning group of refugees, helping to receive them, seeing they are served breakfast, and organizing items given for their morning showers, doing activities with the children or listening to the adults share their stories. During hours when the Venezuelans are not on site, you will be sorting and organizing clothing and other articles to give to the refugees, as well as other preparation. Spanish proficiency is a must, since a significant part of this ministry involves listening to people who need to be heard. Your Spanish needs to be at a level that allows you to carry on simple conversations and understand basic conversations. Please come prepared to share the responsibility of leading devotionals and Bible studies. You should be able to clearly share the gospel message and your testimony with people who have no biblical or Christian context. You will be working with people whose lives have been turned upside down, who have lost their country, who are in a state of crisis, and who have undergone/are undergoing great stress and trauma. You must yourself be emotionally healthy and mature, with a servant heart for helping people who elsewhere are treated as trash, with good listening skills, with the willingness to stand in front of a small group and lead a Bible study or teach children, and who shows the love of Christ in word and deed. Participants will receive orientation (May 25- May 29) and debrief (July 13 -16) with other students serving throughout the Americas. Orientation and debrief will be hosted near Memphis, TN. Students pay transportation to orientation in Memphis, round trip between Memphis and Bucamaranga, Colombia (BGA), and return trip from Memphis home.

This Media Team will attempt to “tell the story” of Irish Gaelic speakers in Ireland through the collection of visual media resources, both still and video.   This team will be assigned to a village/ town/area that is significantly Irish-speaking and strategic to LC’s overall ministry among Celtic language speakers. The Team will “go deep” in showing the area through media footage. They will document the area, language, and people through various media resources (photography, videography, journalism, personal interviews). This Team will then give their raw data (at the end of their assignment) to the Media Projects Coordinator, who, in conjunction with LC Teams 01 and 02, will develop various media resources for the sake of education and mobilizing Christians around the world to be involved in the work to reach Irish speakers with the Gospel through prayer, support, and active engagement. Good proficiency with photography and especially videography would be very helpful for this assignment.

This Team will do very much what the title suggests – namely to explore a particular language group
and the area, where they live. Though we have been doing various types of ministry in the Celtic
nations for over 20 years, our independent missionary agency/organization, called “Linguæ Christi”
has now embraced the calling of addressing the spiritual needs of speakers of ALL the indigenous,
minority languages in the European/Eurasian context (from Portugal in the West to Siberia in the
East). Much as we have done among speakers of Celtic languages for all these years, we intend to
begin new work with other European minority languages groups, organized by linguistic affinity.
Over the next 2-5 years specifically, it is our desire to open new work in at least 2 or 3 new linguistic
affinity areas.
With that in mind, we would like to send some specialized teams of students to do some initial
exploring in those areas and among those languages groups, where Linguæ Christi intends to open
new work in the foreseeable future. This EXPLORATION Team combines many of the other areas of
ministry, namely RESEARCH, MEDIA, PRAYER, and MISSIONAL. Using these broad categories, the
following are some aspects of the assignment:

1. RESEARCH. This exploration team will seek to research and collect data both academically and
anecdotally regarding (1) the language, (2) the people, who speak the language, (3) the area of the
language group, (4) religious expression available in the language, and (5) narrative mapping of the
area for the purposes of mission strategy development.
2. MEDIA. This team will document everything they experience through audio-visual media (still and
video images). The focus of the media documentation would be (1) the area of focus, (2) any
opportunity to display the presence and use of the language, and (3) the people who speak the
target minority language.
3. PRAYER. This team will regularly engage in prayer walking in the areas of exploration, especially
praying for “persons of peace,” contact areas, and opportunities for ministry among the language
group in question.
4. MISSIONAL. Whilst intentionally trying to establish personal contact with speakers of the target,
minority language for the reasons mentioned above, the team will use these opportunities and new
friendships for the sake of spiritual conversations and missional engagement.
This team will be focusing on Basque speakers in the Basque Country (Spanish side).

**NOTE:
This is a VERY independent project. Those who require a great deal of direct supervision or
instruction should NOT consider this assignment.
