Deadline to Apply for Projects is March 1, 2023

Want to serve internationally this summer?

One Missions Students wants to help you as you are seeking to be obedient to God’s call to serve the nations this summer! Applying to serve internationally through One Mission Students qualifies you for up to 30% of your total field costs and transportation (but no more than $1,500) in financial assistance if your project is 3 weeks or longer and you complete all requirements listed below. Financial assistance is also based on the amount of fundraising assistance you provide in your local BCM. If you’re considering service internationally – get your passport today! You must have applied for a passport to be appointed for international service.

One Mission Students is concerned about the health of student missionaries. We are committed to the mission that God has given us to make disciples of all nations, and we believe that college students have a unique role to play in that mission. COVID-19 has impacted every area of our lives. We are constantly monitoring the situation in all service locations and hope to have opportunities to send students across the globe as borders continue to open. We are following the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control, US State Department, and our Southern Baptist missions partner – the International Mission Board. This page will continue to be updated as projects become available. Will you pray with us for these opportunities? Will you pray that students will be willing to serve as opportunities become available?

  • Maturing Christians
  • Active in an Alabama BCM or Alabama Baptist Church
  • Be of good physical and emotional health

  • You must also complete two report forms as you serve throughout the summer.
  • If you are applying internationally, you should either already have a passport with an expiration date of more than 6 months from the end date of the project you are applying for OR have already submitted an application for your passport!

Do you have a love for hiking, kayaking, fishing, snorkeling, camping, etc.? Do you have a deep desire to share the good news with a people who have never heard? Why not use your God-given passions and desires to do both? In this eco-tourism paradise, there are over one million people who desperately need to hear the gospel, and you will use your hobbies and interests to be a light in this very dark place. We need students who are comfortable in a flexible self-driven structure, and who can meet and follow up with friends that you are sure to make through eco events and day-to-day activities. You will have freedom to make your own schedule and plug into recreational communities that match your interests. Come, walk as salt and light among a multitude who have never heard the gospel all while enjoying the great outdoors. Your first stop will be a joint orientation with other Nehemiah Teams at the Nehemiah Teams Training Center in Mentone, Alabama. Learning the skills needed to carry out your assignment as well as team building will fill these first few days. Your team will fly to your final destination for the summer. Following your summer of ministry, you will return to the US for a joint debrief… sharing all God has done over the summer. Participants must commit to the entire program from orientation through the end of debrief.

If you love kids, have a sense of adventure, and know prayer can change lives and even a nation, then this team is for you. In partnership with a foreign-owned preschool, help full-time teachers teach English and VBS. In addition to many children, the preschool also has many non-believing staff. You will develop and teach a curriculum that will share God’s love, His creation, and redemption for the world. Other weeks will be spent prayer-walking, praying, and pleading for the unreached, while exploring nearby rural provinces. This strategic area needs the Gospel and work has been slow. Help prepare the soil and hearts to receive the Good News.

Spend the summer living on a college campus where 98% of students do not know Jesus. You will go to language and culture classes as part of an exchange program and spend the afternoon and evening building relationships and sharing the Gospel over great food, tea, sports, English clubs, and student outings. You will live on campus and have the opportunity to build deep relationships with students, many of whom have never had anyone explain the Gospel to them. Student will also be tasked with encouraging believing students on the campus in their walk with the Lord and outreach to the lost. Your first stop will be a joint orientation with other Nehemiah Teams. Learning the skills needed to carry out your assignment as well as team building will fill these first few days. Your team will fly to your final destination for the summer. Following your summer of ministry, you will return to the US for a joint debrief… sharing all God has done over the summer. Be part of what God is doing to complete the Great Commission among the last unreached people groups in our city, located directly on the equator. Our city has a decent population of Christians, but there is not much work happening and no church has been started among our focus people group. You will be a tourist and spend your time in public spaces, including a river walk and other parks, sharing the gospel and looking for individuals open to hearing more. Your first stop will be a joint orientation with other Nehemiah Teams. Learning the skills needed to carry out your assignment as well as team building will fill these first few days. Your team will then fly to your final destination for the summer. Following your ministry time, you will return to the US for a joint debrief… sharing all God has done. Members must participate in the entire program from orientation through debrief.

Come help indigenous youth find hope in Jesus! Indigenous youth find themselves torn between their traditions and rituals-driven heritage and the allure of the “outside world.” Many are poor, socially marginalized, from broken homes, and question what they will do with their life. In high school they are required to learn English. If they want to attend the university, they must pass an English test. Your goal will be to develop friendships with these indigenous youth through English tutoring and English clubs. You’ll also drink coffee with them, play soccer, visit their homes, and occasionally visit indigenous villages. All the while, you’ll be sharing about your hope in Jesus through Bible stories and your personal testimony. You will serve in partnership with a local Colombian church, helping them get involved in cross cultural ministry alongside you.

Multiple teams are needed in the Philippines! Cross land and sea to share the Gospel in villages where spiritual darkness abounds. The people have been led astray by the enemy’s lies and it’s time they knew the truth of the Gospel and the Savior who came for them. In areas where the Gospel has been skewed and distorted and is now nearly unrecognizable. You will be sharing truth with many who have never heard it told correctly. Work alongside local believers to share Biblical truth with people who may have never owned a Bible or read it for themselves. With the goal of making disciples and the hopes of planting a church, you will be a part of a greater team effort to reach the lost by going into less-accessible areas via motorbike, boat and on foot. Large groups of students will be divided into smaller ministry teams and sent to various locations throughout the country.

Join IMB church planters, Journeymen, and local partners in meeting, sharing the Gospel with, and discipling university students from around the world. As an integral member of our growing team, you will join us in gathering and grouping new student contacts for events, leading Discovery Bible Studies, and building intentional discipleship relationships.
But that’s not all. Our local churches need your partnership to serve alongside them as they connect with their local university students in order to share the Gospel and disciple this next generation.
So why give up your summer for London? According to The Standard newspaper, London is a modern-day Babel. Home to over 270 nations, this global city breaks records with over 300 spoken languages. On one bus ride alone, you’ll be overwhelmed with the sounds of English, Polish, Punjabi, Urdu, Bengali, Arabic, and French. London is a melting pot of nations in desperate need of the Gospel, and we need your help. Far too many of our communities are filled with people unaware and unconcerned with their spiritual bankruptcy.
Will you join us in sharing the Gospel in London?

Oppressive governments and famine have displaced this unreached people group. Every year, thousands of refugees leave their totalitarian country, where Christians are killed without trial, in search of a better and freer life. After escaping their home country, these young people travel through several Asian countries – many of them hostile – until they reach safety in South Korea. Some of these refugees were even born in other countries as their parents hid and tried to make a living. Some of them have been in danger, human trafficked, or emotionally scarred and are in desperate need of a Savior. This summer, travel to South Korea and live with these refugee students in apartments or dorms, teaching them English and life skills, while showing them that there really is a God who loves them.

This team is specifically designed for the student who is a natural leader and can handle fast-paced, high energy tasks. Members of this team will be a Leadership Team involved in running short-term missions projects in the Caernarfon/North Wales area among the Cymry Cymraeg (Welsh speakers). Short-term teams will include activities related to music ministry, prayerwalking, missional living, sports, recreation, and narrative mapping. Members of this team are encouraged to know how to host and adapt well to change. It is very much a camp counselor type position but with groups of youth, university students and adults. Several tasks commonly found for members of this team include budgeting, food/supply shopping, transportation planning, and enthusiastic leadership. Don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty and do “whatever it takes” to get the job done. This team is for the person who loves to serve, lead, and be with people as you share the Gospel and help others to do the same in a post-Christian society. Specifically, this leadership team will be working with two primary projects during their time in Wales. The first is a very large group (about 150) comprised primarily of teenagers from the music programme of one Alabama Church. The second team is of university students doing a week of ministry follow-up following the Choirs and ensembles from the previous week’s project.

We will encourage you to spend as much time as possible with your new local friends over coffee, in their homes, at the beach, etc. During these visits, you will be presented with many opportunities to present the Good News. Our team will also spend time with you each week to mentor you and to fellowship together.
