Update from M Serving in East Africa

Well, I can’t believe it’s already been six weeks!  I feel like we’ve just gotten the hang of things, and it’s already our last night here.

As we are preparing to leave, it’s so easy to think of all the “what ifs” and “should’ve dones.” It’s easy to think about how we could’ve been more intentional with someone, or should’ve shared with this person, or what if we’d done that…  But He’s taught me something this week: nothing done for His gl-ry is done in vain!  Last time I asked you to lift us up while we went into the home of one of our friends who wanted to cook us supper.  Well, not long after we got there she turned a movie on to I assume entertain us while she finished cooking.  This made it difficult to have a conversation, and even when we did talk, we couldn’t think of anything to say.  At one point I was getting super frustrated because it didn’t seem like this visit was going anywhere and I asked the HS that if He was there if He would just DO something! Anything! And then He said to me: Just Be! Here I was getting frustrated that we seemingly weren’t DOING anything, but all that really mattered was that we just BE Light wherever we are, and whatever the circumstances and He will receive Glory!  That was such a great reminder to us when we’re tempted to dwell on all the things we think we “should’ve done.” All that really matters is that we do what He’s called us to, Be Light, and He’ll take care of the rest!

Which leads me to the last story (and best! I was saving it for last)!  I think I mentioned before, about how my teammate has been meeting with someone the past few weeks.  Even from the beginning, she’s been super interested in the Word, and had completely read through the whole book of John by the fourth time they met together (she gave it to her the second time they met)!  After she had read it, in Swahili and English, she had a list for my teammate of all the questions she had. Earnest, truly searching, questions!  She truly wanted to know all about Christ and what it means to follow.  Today, our last day here, I’m super excited to let you know that we have a new sister!!!! And my teammate was allowed to be a part of it!! PTL!  Here is a perfect example of how all we have to do is Be Faithful to Be Light and He’ll do the rest!  This precious new sister has had many people invest in her, countless people lifting her and her family up, and today He Called her! So exciting!! She’s even been sharing what she’s been learning with her husband and oldest daughter! Ask that they will soon Follow too, that they can start a new Life together as a family! Ask that He will guard her against the enemy, that she will experience peace like she’s never experienced before! Ask that she will grow and not turn back, but will be bold!

I couldn’t have imagined a better way to end our stay in Africa! Thank you all so much for Remembering us during our stay here!  I can’t believe we head home tomorrow!
