Work hard to produce a harvest! This is a motto of many farmers. As a "mission farmer" this summer, you'll be planting more than just physical seeds! Spend your days working on a research/demonstration farm in the tribal areas of the Philippines. While working alongside national and tribal partners, you'll learn practical ways to help develop the countryside through simple yet practical farming techniques. Your weekends will be spent in local communities, sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ, working alongside the local church and tribal missionaries through training in evangelism & missions.
Your first stop will be a joint orientation with other Nehemiah Teams at the Nehemiah Teams Training Center in Mentone, Alabama. Learning the skills needed to carry out your assignment as well as team building will fill these first few days. Your team will then travel to your field destination for the summer. At the end of the summer, you'll return for some final days of debrief. Participants must commit to the entire program from orientation through the end of debrief.
Special requirements: Students that serve on this project need to be interested in serving in agricultural settings.
