One Missions Students wants to help you as you are seeking to be obedient to God’s call to serve this summer! Applying to serve in North America through One Mission Students qualifies you for up to 30% of your total field costs and transportation (but no more than $1,000) in financial assistance if your project is 3 weeks or longer and you complete all requirements listed below. Financial assistance is also based on the amount of fundraising assistance you provide in your local BCM.
One Mission Students must be:
- Maturing Christians
- Active in an Alabama BCM or Alabama Baptist Church
- Be of good physical and emotional health
- Participate in personal evangelism on your college campus
- Students must refrain from any use of alcohol, tobacco, pornography, sexual contact outside of marriage, and/or any other activity that will call into question your integrity or hinder one’s witness for Christ.
- Completed one semester of college
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
- You must also attend Missions Prep Weekend, April 21-22, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Prattville. This weekend will provide you with information about your service opportunity this summer and training in evangelism, safety and security.
- Attendance at Missions Debriefing Training is required as well. This training will be determined by your team leader or based on your location of service. It will help you better tell your story and debrief from your missions experience.
You must also complete two report forms as you serve throughout the summer.

BOYS CAMP COUNSELOR – Spend the month of July serving as a counselor at Royal Ambassador camps across the state. Camps will be held July 6-8; 17-22; 24-29. All camps include missions education, spiritual growth through twice-a-day Bible study and outdoor chapel, opportunity for decisions, respect and relationship building, and camp activities (archery, air rifles, tomahawk throwing, blow darts, canoeing, cooking on a campfire and a buddy burner, swimming, adventure recreation, compass and rope craft skills, and nature study!) PHOENIX :: We’ll have 2 teams going to Phoenix this summer. Spend 10 days in June or 6 weeks June-July!
The SUMMER LONG TEAM will serve from June 7-July 26 doing following up on SBC outreach, and connecting with church plants in the city. From children, to inner city, to suburban ministry, there are opportunities for you! We’re looking for 12 students to fill this team. The SHORT TERM TEAM will serve for June 7-15 in several special outreach events (block parties, homeless ministry, inner city and suburban ministry) alongside the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) meeting and will end the trip with a visit to the Grand Canyon! VBS TEAM :: MAY 26-AUGUST 2, 2017 :: Orlando is the number one tourist destination. 66 million people visit the city each year adding a very diverse culture to Orlando. ROCK Ministries reaches out to the tourists but also partners with the local churches to reach the 2.3 million people that live in the Greater Orlando area. There are over 150 churches and missions in the Greater Orlando Baptist Association. These churches try to reach the children in their communities through Vacation Bible School. Many of these churches are small congregations or new church starts that could really use help. ROCK Ministries would like to partner with some of these churches in the summer of 2017 to help them by providing several summer missionaries to help with VBS. GIVE KIDS THE WORLD TEAM :: MAY 26-AUGUST 2, 2017 :: Orlando is the number one tourist destination. 66 million people visit the city each year adding a very diverse culture to Orlando. We have a very unique opportunity with a place called Give Kids the World. This is a resort/village for children with life threatening illnesses whose wish is to visit Orlando and its exciting attractions. The families stay at the village for a week and enjoy such amenities as putt putt, pools, free ice cream, food and much more. This exciting place allows families to take a break from the hustle and bustle of doctor visits and the worry of life with an illness. Each week you will volunteer 20 to 30 hours in the village. You will live out your faith through your lifestyle. There are 200 different volunteer jobs each day to choose from. You will develop relationships that you never thought possible with the staff, other volunteers and the families. The emotional ties you develop weekly will begin to change your heart forever. Your faith will be challenged and strengthened. During the rest of the week you will participate in ministries along with the rest of the ROCK Ministries Summer Team. You will conduct a Kid’s Club in a hotel pool 3 days a week. Kid’s Clubs are like a Backyard Bible Club/Daycamp with Bible stories, games in the pool, crafts and snacks. You will have the opportunity to touch lives of people from all over the world. You will help with other ministries such as face painting and balloon sculpting. You will also get to work with a local church each week. You will be stretched out of your comfort zone. You will learn to live out and share your faith. If you are a compassionate person, love children and have a servant’s heart come spend your summer in Orlando volunteering at Give Kids the World. GREATER WICHITA, KANSAS :: MAY 23-AUGUST 1, 2017 :: Church planting assignment. The plant is focused on unchurched millennials in Cowley County, Kansas. We are planning outreach events starting with Easter 2017 followed by a summer of outreach in 2017. The church will launch September 10, 2017. Students will be involved with various outreach events during the summer and will be working with missions teams providing leadership, logistical help and assistance as needed. Students will also develop a strategy for reaching students at Cowley County Community College in Arkansas City and Southwestern University in Winfield. Student missionaries will provide support for the church planter: helping with meetings, planning, field work and follow-up with prospects. The students will benefit by gaining experience in church planting methodology. They will be mentored by staff from the mother church, Aviator Derby and will be equipped at the end of their time to help more effectively with reaching other students and unchurched people. CHICAGO :: JUNE 1-AUGUST 4, 2017 :: People Group City Interns will work to research and engage least reached people groups within the West Ridge neighborhood of Chicago. West Ridge, and specifically Devon Avenue, is home to one of the most ethnically diverse zip codes in the United States. Interns will work among primarily 10,100 Iraqi Arab Muslims and secondarily with smaller Muslim groups. People Group City Interns will focus on researching and engaging with these people, as well as building bridges between mercy ministries and the local church. Field Costs = $2,500. DETROIT :: JUNE 1-AUGUST 4, 2017 :: Metro Detroit is defined by its culturally diverse population of 3.7 million. The city’s character has been defined and redefined by wave after wave of immigrants from all over the world, many of whom arrived with hope for a new and better life. To the West, Dearborn is home to the largest Arabic population outside of the Middle-East. Over 400,000 Arabs call the Detroit MSA home. Be a part of a team that will use a variety of ways to engage these internationals with the gospel in hopes of seeing a church planted among them. NASHVILLE :: JUNE 1-AUGUST 4, 2017 :: The Nashville Metropolitan Statistical Area houses over 1.7 Million residents. Of this number, tens of thousands are refugees and immigrants from dozens of countries. The top five ethnic backgrounds of resettled refugees are currently Iraqi, Burmese, Somali, Bhutanese, and Congolese. Thousands of Kurdish Muslims also live in the Nashville – Davidson County area. Join a P52 team that will live in adjacent apartments to many refugee families. Come share the good news of Jesus Christ to those that so desperately need to hear His love story for them.
