One Missions Students wants to help you as you are seeking to be obedient to God’s call to serve this summer! Applying to serve in North America through One Mission Students qualifies you for up to 30% of your total field costs and transportation (but no more than $1,000) in financial assistance if your project is 3 weeks or longer and you complete all requirements listed below. Financial assistance is also based on the amount of fundraising assistance you provide in your local BCM.
One Mission Students must be:
- Maturing Christians
- Active in an Alabama BCM or Alabama Baptist Church
- Be of good physical and emotional health
- Participate in personal evangelism on your college campus
- Students must refrain from any use of alcohol, tobacco, pornography, sexual contact outside of marriage, and/or any other activity that will call into question your integrity or hinder one’s witness for Christ.
- Completed one semester of college
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
- You must also attend Missions Prep Weekend, April 13-14, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Montgomery. This weekend will provide you with information about your service opportunity this summer and training in evangelism, safety and security.
- Attendance at Missions Debriefing Training is required as well. This training will be determined by your team leader or based on your location of service. It will help you better tell your story and debrief from your missions experience.
You must also complete two report forms as you serve throughout the summer.

Hawaii – May 24 – August 2, 2018 — FULL
Pu’u Kahea Conference Center is the state Baptist conference center, owned and operated by the Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention. We are a host facility for churches and other non-profit groups, where they can come to have their retreats and camps. We provide lodging and meals for guests. Students will help provide a peaceful environment for the groups, so they may minister to those in their groups without having to worry about lodging and food details. Students will get to interact with guests as they go about their day – and assist with day camps for children.
Cost – $700 – includes airfare, lodging, and meals. Students will also receive a monthly stipend from the camp.
GENSEND Phoenix – June 15 – July 30, 2018
Serve on a team of students from Alabama in Phoenix! This team will learn to live life on mission within the context of the city. As a part of that you will serve alongside church planters and compassion ministries to see and experience what it takes to spread Christ’s love and message of redemption to Phoenix. Our hope is that you will not only be developed as a missionary but that you may also consider leveraging your life in Phoenix for the gospel.
Cost – $50 – includes airfare, lodging, and meals.
GENSEND Calgary, Alberta, Canada – June 15 – July 30, 2018
Serve on a team of students from Alabama in Calgary! This team will learn to live life on mission within the context of the city. As a part of that you will serve alongside church planters and compassion ministries to see and experience what it takes to spread Christ’s love and message of redemption to Calgary. Our hope is that you will not only be developed as a missionary but that you may also consider leveraging your life in Calgary for the gospel.
Cost – $50 – includes airfare, lodging, and meals.
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS with PROJECT52 – June 7 – August 4, 2018
People Group City Interns will work to research and engage least reached people groups within the neighborhoods of Chicago. This will be a combination of both evangelistic engagement and research. Research will involve neighborhood mapping, completing people group profiles, and a brief ethnography. Engagement will include prayerwalking, opportunities to do contextual evangelism, serving the needs of individuals and families, and building bridges between mercy ministries and the local church. Interns will have opportunities to train with local missionaries and pastors, and to work with ministries focused on people groups.

KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE with PROJECT52 – June 7 – August 4, 2018
Knox County is estimated to have 30,000+ internationals from 120 countries living there. Many of these peoples come from areas of the world unreached with the Gospel and where it is difficult to have missionaries. A recent study estimates that nearly 80% of the general population of Knoxville are ‘Nones’ and ‘Dones.’ The team will be doing mapping of Knox County in order to discover exactly where these internationals and pockets of lostness are living and begin to engage them with the Gospel.

TORONTO, ONTARIO with PROJECT52 – June 7 – August 4, 2018
SPORTS EVANGELISM TEAM
Come bind up the broken this summer in the Greater Toronto area! Join in God’s work with Upward Sports Toronto to reach the lost. As a staff member, you will organize, facilitate, and participate in sports camps and block parties for children. You will be in the community, making a Gospel impact among peoples from a multitude of backgrounds. People from the world’s most persecuted countries have found resettlement here. Come see the whole world in one city! Studets applying for this project MUST not only be flexible with their schedules, but completely fluid!
COST – $2600 – includes all field costs – flight, lodging and meals
ORLANDO, FLORIDA – May 25 – August 1
The whole world comes to Orlando. The mission of ROCK Ministries is to reach the 68 million visitors that come to Orlando each year AND those working in the tourism industry with the compassion and kindness of Jesus Christ. Students will join in this effort serving in VBS, volunteering at Give Kids the World (the resort for Make a Wish Foundation families), and other outreach events. OTHER GENSEND OPPORTUNITIES – the North American Mission Board (NAMB) provides several other GENSEND opportunities in cities scattered across North America.
