International Christmas: New York (ICNY)
Dec. 15-22 or Dec. 25, 2018-Jan. 2, 2019 (Please note: Dec. 25 is a travel day; project begins on Dec. 26)
Cost: $600 (includes all expenses – airfare, meals and lodging)
Week One: The first week of ICNY (International Christmas New York) begins as an immersive experience in the vibrant cultures of South Asia, centered in the Jackson Heights and Woodside neighborhoods of Queens. You will then travel half way across the globe just by crossing the street to Corona, Queens; York City’s largest concentration of South and Central American people. See two sides of the world in one week – the cultural contrasts and the sameness we share. You will join local ministries in outreach efforts to South Asian, South American and Central American peoples. As you traverse the city, you will be “on mission,” seeking to share God’s grace and gospel with everyone you meet. Only 11 spaces available – so apply today!
Week Two: Week two of ICNY (International Christmas New York) will center on the countries of China and Poland. You’ll explore the three Chinatowns of NYC, from the famous Manhattan Chinatown to Brooklyn’s Sunset Park and Flushing, Queens. Then travel to Brooklyn’s Greenpoint, a long-established Polish neighborhood where tradition is learning to coexist with hipster culture. In both contexts, you’ll experience people rooted in tradition as they transition into the global community. You will join local ministries in outreach efforts to Chinese and Polish peoples. As you traverse the city, you will be “on mission,” seeking to share God’s grace and gospel with everyone you meet. Only 11 spaces available – so apply today!
